ATWT has secured a Court Order in August 2011 for the first ever amendment to a Hong Kong short-term patent since the introduction of the Patents Ordinance on 27 June 1997.  A Hong Kong short-term patent registration is “independent” which stands on its own contrasting a Hong Kong Standard Patent, which is based on a designated patent registered in the China, Europe or UK Patent Offices. Currently, there is no existing regime and procedure for short-term patents’ amendment in Hong Kong.  A new Patents (General) Rules is currently being considered by the Hong Kong Government.
